“Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.” Ecclesiastes 11:7
God is the sun. We do not fully understand how the sun holds all things into place, yet somehow we trust that it does and will continue to do so. We do not fully understand where the energy necessary to sustain the sun comes from, yet we have faith it will continue today, tomorrow, and throughout our future.
To feel the sun’s warmth, you must be still; you cannot be in constant motion or the warmth and glow from the golden rays will be lost. The air surrounding you may be cold, but the sun’s warmth remains.
The wind may blow disrupting the warmth of the sun, but this disruption is temporary; the sun remains steadfast.
The sun may fall behind the trees as the day marches on creating shade and giving the illusion of darkness. In order to remain in the sun, we must move. We must pick-up ourselves and go towards the sun and back to warmth requiring some sort of change.
Sometimes things block the sun; clouds; storms; buildings. However, the sun never moves; its path never changes. The clouds and storms disperse, fade, and ultimately disappear. The sun remains. Life can present many clouds some small, some large, some that cause raging storms. We cannot control them; we cannot fight them; we must endure them. Through it all, the sun never stops; it is only obscured for a time.
We cannot look directly at the sun as its power is too great. The sun’s majesty could burn us in its unbridled form.
Can I have as much faith in God as I do the sun? Especially considering God made the sun.
Dear our gracious and giving father,
Allow me to feel the sunlight of your spirit. Remove whatever cloud that obscures your greatness. Remind me each time I step into your world as see the sun shining, you are there and remain steadfast.
Amen.
